Barbour has partnered with Oxfam to launch a charity rental scheme at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Under the Barbour Re-Loved jacket rental initiative, upcycled, pre-loved jackets will be available to rent from Oxfam stores on the festival site, with all proceeds donated to the charity.

Barbour group commercial director and deputy group managing director Paul Wilkinson said: “A key part of circularity is to keep products in use longer, thereby reducing impact per wear and the need for new resources.”

All of the secondhand jackets have been cleaned, repaired and re-waxed by the Barbour team in South Shields for the festival. Each jacket is unique, with many featuring reused materials and fabrics from past Glastonbury Festival t-shirts and merchandise.

“We believe that this rental scheme provides a very affordable and accessible service, enabling customers to easily rent jackets at the festival should the weather be inclement or they just need a coat for chilly evenings,” added Wilkinson.

“With all proceeds going to Oxfam, it means that customers can rent their jackets knowing that they are supporting this very worthy charitable cause.”

The premium brand will be renting out the secondhand jackets for £45 each. Customers will then have the chance to return their wax jackets at the end of the weekend-long festival or purchase them in full.

In January, Barbour unveiled record annual sales, as collaborations with high-end fashion brands bolstered its popularity among younger shoppers.

The luxury retailer partnered with the likes of Gucci and Ganni in an effort to revamp the brand.
