Domino’s has published its debut sustainability report, highlighting its key green achievements across 2023 as it charts its progress to become net zero by 2050

The pizza giant published various details and data on areas such as the environment and its sourcing and said: “We are at the beginning of our sustainablity journey and understand we have a long way to go. In some areas, we exceeded our expectations and in others, we had to navigate some challenges.”

2023 highlights include installing solar panels in three of its supply chain centres, developing a nutrition strategy to be rolled out this year, and the opening of a lower carbon store in London.

CEO Andrew Berrie said: “We must continue to ensure that sustainability is integral to our business strategy and that we bring our people, suppliers and franchise partners along with us.”

Key targets for 2024 include installing electric fridge units, piloting electric HGVs and working with suppliers to reduce emissions.

On emissions, Domino’s is targeting to cut Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% against a 2021 baseline by 2031 and cut scope 3 emissions by 25% against a 2021 baseline by 2031 while overall to cut carbon emissions to reach net zero by 2050.

The pizza brand is also developing a roadmap so that all of its corporate stores are powered by renewable energy, it said.

Last year, Pizza Pilgrims joined forces with all-electric courier Packfleet to provide Londoners with carbon-neutral deliveries.

While earlier this month, it was revealed the  owner of Pizza Hut and KFC, a meatpacking giant and one of the UK’s biggest marketing agencies have been removed from the UN-backed Science-Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) dashboard.
