UK hotel chain Village Hotels has published a new ESG and sustainability strategy, splitting the framework across three pillars: environment, people and community.
The chain says its ESG priorities run under one mission: to have a positive impact on the communities it operates in, both environmentally and socially. The strategy includes an environmental programme running through all areas of its business while educating and encouraging guests and team members to make more sustainable choices.
As well as a planned reduction in consumption and carbon emissions, all Village Hotels hotels now operate on I00% renewable energy.
The chains also said ‘proactive initiatives’ have reduced waste and increased recycling, with 98% of waste from Village Hotels now diverted from landfill through back-of-house recycling and third-party sourcing.
The chain, which is made up of 33 hotels across the UK, is also encouraging its guests, members and colleagues to switch to electric vehicles powered by renewable energy.

The hotel chain is also rolling out super-fast chargers to all hotels, and hotel team members have access to an EV finance scheme to further encourage the use of EV cars.
A further part of its strategy includes offering a range of sustainability-focused benefits for its employees and guests.

Last year, Hotel Chocolat launched two new chocolate bars, and pledged 100% of the funds towards better farming practices.
